Alexandria Egypt

Alexandria – the pearl of the Mediterranean. Welcome to one of the most historic, yet cosmopolitan cities in the world. People such as Cleopatra, Alexander the Great and Napoleon have all been enchanted by the beauty of the Nile Delta. Now it is your turn!

As E.M. Forster once said, “The best way to see Alexandria is to wander aimlessly”. As you stroll through the streets, you will be astounded, not only by the diverse architecture, but also by the intensely “different” atmosphere. Alex has a surprising blend of cultures, from Middle Eastern to Mediterranean, from Islamic to Coptic Christian. Around every bend, there is a fresh example of one of these cultures – new treasures just waiting to be found.

From the fort at Qaitbey to the presidential palace and gardens of Montazah, Alex stretches for 20 Km along the coast of the Med. Some of the most intriguing sights include the Biblioteca Alexandrina, the Greco-Roman museum, and the Mosque of Abu el-Abbas el Mursi – one of the finest of its kind.

Both the school and the accommodation are located within very easy walking distance of the sea and various entertainment and eating possibilities. Transport around the city is cheap and easy, for those who wish to see more of this amazing place. Situated only 250 Km from Cairo, Alex is an easy starting point for a trip around Egypt, and the perfect place to study for your teaching certificate!
